One of my CraftyProf colleagues is stepping out of one comfort zone during this Coronavirus pandemic in order to step up her craft — Card Making. For years now, she has been an itinerant crafter, hosting classes at the local library, with members of local retirement communities, and with friends and newbie card makers. With stay-at-home orders to slow the spread of the virus, this outlet for crafting suddenly went away.
For the first few weeks of the stay-at-home (SAH) order, we were were simply trying to stay on top of remote working while also helping our children with remote learning. It was enough to keep our families safe and healthy and keep the pandemic-induced anxieties at bay. As the weeks wore on, though, we started messaging each other about our crafting — how were we continuing to be crafty during a pandemic?
My Card Making friend, I learned, was not only being crafty, she was being daring crafty. Since she could not longer meet with others to make cards, she took her craft to others using Facebook Live. “Technique Tuesday” with Happy Notes Crafts launched this evening. Check her out at @happynotescrafts on Facebook.
I’m inspired by my friend, @happynotescrafts. I wonder, how will I use this pandemic as an opportunity to step out of my comfort zone of craftiness? How will you?
